Should I see a doctor?
This section of the STD web site was included in response to the large
number of telephone calls received by doctors and health advisers at
STD Services. People are often reluctant to go straight to a doctor
or health care worker when they have symptoms which they suspect might be
due to a sexually transmitted infection, and prefer to ask for anonymous
advice over the telephone.
"Should I See a Doctor?" will help you decide if you should
see a doctor in relation to any STD concerns you might have. If you have
symptoms, the system cannot diagnose your condition. But on the basis of
the symptoms you describe, it may be able to suggest some of the
conditions that sometimes cause those symptoms. It will then offer advice
about how to have the symptoms properly assessed and treated.
