Services Available at Clinic 275
Clinic 275 offers free and confidential testing, diagnosis and
treatment of sexually transmitted infections (including HIV/AIDS). A
health advisory service is available for more detailed information and/or
counselling related to STD issues.
Diagnosis and Treatment of Infections
The emphasis of the clinic is on the diagnosis and treatment of
sexually transmitted infections.
Clinic 275 is not a family planning
service so contraceptives, family planning advice and routine Pap smears
are not offered.
A visit to the clinic will include tests and clinical examination
for:
- HIV/AIDS
- Hepatitis B
- Hepatitis C
- Syphilis
- Gonorrhoea
- Chlamydia
- Non specific urethritis (males)
- Balanitis (males)
- Candidiasis/Thrush (females)
- Bacterial vaginosis (females)
- Trichomoniasis (females)
- Genital warts
- Genital herpes
- Molluscum contagiosum
- Pubic lice
- Scabies
- Rashes and dermatological conditions affecting the genitals
Other Services
Clients attending Clinic 275 for STD testing may also be offered
some of
the following services:

Hepatitis B vaccination
is available free of charge to people who qualify as belonging to groups "at risk"

Needle exchange service for injecting drug
users

Information and advice about sexually transmitted diseases and safe
sex is available from our health advisers

Pregnancy tests with on the spot results. Clinic 275 staff can refer
pregnant women quickly and easily for specialist management of the
pregnancy, whether or not you decide to proceed with it

For women who feel that recent
unprotected sex has put them at risk of pregnancy, emergency
contraception - the "morning after pill" can be provided
together with a check up for STDs.
General Information

Medical consultation, laboratory tests and sexual health advice are
all free of charge at Clinic 275. You do not even need to bring your
Medicare card or sign any bulk-billing forms!

You need to
return in person to collect your test results. We do not give
results over the telephone.

The Clinic has a laboratory on site. This means that we are able to
provide some preliminary results on the day of your visit to the
Clinic - usually within 5 to 10 minutes. Many common conditions can be
accurately diagnosed on the spot, which means that treatment can be
commenced without delay.

Drug treatment
for common conditions is provided free of charge on the premises.
However will need to go to a pharmacist to have a prescription filled
for treatment of long term conditions.

Clinic 275 staff are friendly and will try to put you at ease. If
you prefer to see either a female or male doctor we will try to
accommodate your wishes. The clinic staff adopt a non judgemental
approach and are comfortable discussing details of your sex life or
drug use.
Information you disclose during your visit to Clinic 275 is strictly
confidential. It cannot be released to anyone outside the clinic or
laboratory without
your written permission. |
